However, Hollywood isn't only renowned for its movies, but they also have several iconic buildings that give Hollywood considerable distinction.
If you were wondering what these buildings are, no need to Google search because we have compiled a list of the Top 5 Hollywood Buildings. Fun to read about - and even more exciting to visit!
1. Roosevelt Hotel
One of the many famous Hollywood buildings to bring to your attention is the Roosevelt Hotel. This 1972 landmark has a beautiful Spanish colonial design, which makes this building iconic —several movies, including The Fabulous Baker Boys and Beverly Hills Cop II, filmed scenes within the hotel.
The building also hosted the first Oscars during a private dinner with at least 250 attendees, and guests only had to pay $5 compared to the present Oscars, which costs $750 per head. Another interesting fact about the event was that it only lasted for 15 minutes and wasn't aired on television. You can currently find the Roosevelt Hotel at the corner of Orange Drive and Hollywood Boulevard.
2. LAX Theme Building
If you happen to fly over Los Angeles, you will notice a unique building that stands out - the Theme Building at LAX, built by an African-American architect named Paul Williams in 1956. He designed the building to serve as the centerpiece in the airport, but it did not go as planned: people continue to mistake the Theme Building for an airport control tower!
The Theme Building provides a clear view of the airplanes flying in and out when you reach the top of the observation deck. You can only enter the observation deck on the 2nd weekend of every month.
3. TCL Chinese Theatre
The opening of the TCL Chinese Theatre in 1972 was one of the most spectacular theatre openings in movie history. Out of several theatres that Sid Grauman built, he considered this to be his dream theatre. With 40-foot curving walls and copper turrets, this theatre is legendary and regarded as the top choice for studio premieres in all of Hollywood.
More than 200 Hollywood stars have their hand or footprints cemented on the ground surrounding the theatre's forecourt, including Johnny Depp, Robert De Niro, Angelina Jolie, and Kate Winslet, and many more.
4. The Egyptian Theatre
Another theatre that Sid Grauman built back in 1922 is The Egyptian Theatre - the first Egyptian-styled building inspired by King Tut's tomb discovery. Everything about the building is Egyptian-themed, which gives you the feeling of being inside the real Egyptian tomb.
5. Griffith Observatory
People once claimed the Griffith Observatory to be "the most beloved and recognizable building in LA." It's an 80-year-old building named after Griffith J. Griffith. Several famous movies filmed scenes here, including Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle and Rebel Without a Cause. This building is maintained in top condition to ensure they preserve its grand appearance. Maintenance personnel gain access to the rooftop through roof hatches and conduct regular checks on building components through strategically placed access panels.
